I have worked as an AI Data Scientist my entire career, and my last employer was Lloyds Banking Group. I have a degree in statistics. I'm married with two daughters.
In December 2021 I caught a COVID infection that was mild at the time — mainly tiredness and headaches — but it left me with Long COVID, a debilitating condition with no known cure.
I have always been interested in research on topics related to my profession, for example Bayesian Statistics, Causality, Fairness, and so I have applied my research skills to try to improve my condition.
I set myself the aim of improving my condition by researching and then trying what I thought was promising and risk-free. If I had the impression that it worked, I would continue using it; if not, I would stop. I didn't have the ambition to prove anything to anyone or to influence the 'scientific consensus' or 'medical community'. I just wanted to get better.
I had some good results using natural supplements and dietary changes.
As I don't watch TV or Netflix, and don't read novels, I spend most of my time reading factual books and research papers, and listening to podcasts about health.
Through this research I came across the concept that our bodies are electrical machines and we can improve our health by looking at this aspect.
I have always been very sensitive to energy; I can feel the energy coming from trees or high-energy places like Stonehenge.
I have discovered that some of us are like that, possibly as a result of a genetic mutation.
My first Reiki session with a local practitioner was a life-changing moment; I just felt that something switched on in me for the better, I felt I had more energy to get through the day and felt more positive.
From then on, I decided to have more sessions and to study Reiki to understand more.
During these sessions I also received feedback from my practitioner that I have a stronger-than-usual connection to energy that lets me feel the Reiki energy very strongly; this also allows me to pass this energy very effectively to someone else.
I then enrolled in a one-to-one, in-person Level 1 and Level 2 Reiki course (which is all you need to become a practitioner, as Level 3 is just for teaching Reiki) and I got good results applying my Reiki skills to friends and family, easing any physical or emotional complaints they were experiencing (I have to state that Reiki is a complementary practice and is not a substitute for professional medical diagnosis, treatment, or care).
From there, I decided to make it my full-time job.
I have been afflicted by a debilitating condition for many years and I know how it feels to lose your health, and it gives me great satisfaction to help other people regain their health (as a complementary therapy).
