I perform Reiki in its simplest possible form, as similar as possible to the original Mikao Usui's method.
I do not use crystals, singing bowls, tuning forks, drums or similar tools during my sessions. Many practitioners incorporate these elements into their work, and some clients enjoy them. I prefer to use Reiki as a stand-alone practice, as I feel it is powerful enough to be effective by itself.
I also don't use a standard massage table, I give Reiki while sitting on the floor, with the client lying on a low portable treatment bed that I can easily carry around if needed.
This is because I can concentrate better on the flow of energy when I'm sitting. Massage tables don't allow me to sit comfortably at the side of the bed, and Reiki does not require the kind of sturdy table used for treatments involving physical manipulation or pressure.
I haven't added anything referring to Japan, energy or the like to my living room, as in my view there isn't anything particularly esoteric or mystical about Reiki. We all need energy flowing through our bodies just as much as we need oxygen.
I have attached below a few pictures of my living room.
